Election season is upon us, and we had the chance for some real pressin’ of the flesh this evening with a candidate for City Council. A bonfire, a backyard, pizza, and assorted beverages, accented with a gaggle of delighted and excited kids — all these things plus the crisp autumn air made for a classic political gathering on a human scale. For a while we took the opportunity to greet neighbors, meet some new folks, grab a bite, and watch in sheer amazement at the energy of human beings under the age of 12. Then it was time to listen to one man’s hopes and visions for Cincinnati, and ask questions on topics like The Banks, crime, and human services.
Soon, however, a toddler needed to toddle off to bed, and we left, curiously energized for the upcoming elections and hopeful for our fair city’s future.
